Writing and speaking in the press about career happiness

As a journalist, I’ve written for everyone from Chat and That’s Life! to Grazia and Red.

I’m a mix - a writer who is also a coach, a coach who’s also a journalist - and my career has spanned over 20 years working for magazines, newspapers and websites both as staff and as a freelancer.

You may recognise me by my maiden name Jenny Stallard. And if you’re a member of the Facebook group No1 Freelance Media Women, yes, I’m ‘that Jenny’!

When I began training as a coach, I wanted to blend the two work worlds, and so began writing more about carers, work, mental health and self-employed life.

Building a portfolio of written work about the niche in which I coach was hugely rewarding, and I hope that by reading my work you are also inspired on your career journey. I’ve written on everything from the grief of redundancy to the pros and cons of hybrid working. I also write about menopause at work - from my own experience to the challenges that women face in the modern workplace and their lives.

As a coach, I have spoken to other journalists about careers and career happiness and I’m very comfortable sharing my own story as well as quotes and advice for journalists’ articles.

If you’re a commissioning editor and want to speak about an article please do get in touch.

In my 20+ years as a journalist I’ve spoken to and quoted a lot of experts - including a lot of coaches!

I know what it’s like to need a reliable, intelligent, informed expert for a piece. Someone who also knows how you might need the quote in the next ten minutes!

I’m a unique blend of a coach who is super-quotable and a journalist who understands the pressures and nuances of working with experts to quote in features.

I get it - you might not link to my website. I get it - your editor might tweak my quote.

I get it - you’re on a tight deadline and really only need a few lines!

If you’re writing about careers and work and want insight from an expert, I can offer a quick turnaround - and the coverage I’ve secured so far backs that up.

I have been quoted in Psychologies, Forbes, Stylist, Yahoo! Finance, iNews, Creative Boom, Fortune, the independent, JournoResources, Business Insider and Management Today.

Want to send over a request for a quote? I’d love to hear from you!
